Smartsheet Adds AI to Mobile Forms and Reports

In its product notes for April 30, 2026, Smartsheet shows how AI is moving into everyday administrative work. The AI auto-fill feature is intended to allow mobile forms to be filled in by voice. The user speaks naturally and AI fills in the fields. On the same day, the company also introduced open Claude Code agents for common project tasks and full CRUD operations for reports in the public API. On April 27, it added an expanded CSV report for Data Shuttle with the number of processed rows, source and target names and other workflow details. AI targets routine administration At first glance, these are smaller product updates. In reality, they target three painful areas of company work: field data collection, manual project administration and audit of data flows. Mobile forms are used in construction, operations, service, quality control and internal audits. If a worker fills in data by voice and the system converts it into fields, the company can reduce error rates and employees' resistance to administration. That is a practical business benefit. Reports become part of automation The API for reports has a different significance. CRUD means the ability to create, read, update and delete reports through an interface. For large organizations, this is a way to make reporting part of automated processes rather than a manually managed layer. When a project, department or permission changes, the report can change as well. This saves work for project management offices and reduces the risk that leadership makes decisions based on an outdated view. The Data Shuttle report with information on processed rows and workflow details matters for management and control. If data moves between systems, an administrator must know where it came from, where it went and how much of it was processed. Without those details, it is difficult to prove data quality, find errors or meet internal control requirements. The legal dimension mainly concerns voice input, personal data and auditability. If an employee dictates information about a customer, order or incident, the company must know how the voice is processed and stored. AI has the greatest value where it removes small, repetitive and expensive administration, but it must not move faster than the rules for handling data.
