More important is how technology changes the organization itself: who makes decisions, who coordinates work, and how many management layers a company needs. Research suggests that collaboration tools can reduce the need for managerial oversight and support decentralization. At the same time, new tasks are emerging: teaching employees and continuously managing how work is divided between people and autonomous systems.
