Mistral described the modernization of part of a large simulation system used by a European energy company. Of 300,000 lines of legacy Fortran, about 40,000 were converted to C++. The project showed that fully autonomous agents can rewrite code, but structured workflows with human oversight and continuous verification performed better for complex architectures.
