AI is already used by nearly one fifth of working-age people. The gap between richer and poorer countries persists

Microsoft estimates that in June, 18.8 percent of the world’s population aged 15 to 64 used generative AI, roughly one percentage point more than in the first quarter. Almost every economy recorded growth, but differences between the Global North and South remain. The data also show different usage patterns: education accounts for a larger share of use in developing economies.
