Russia's state nuclear corporation, Rosatom, has announced that projects for 18 new nuclear power units at nine sites are currently in various stages of implementation as part of the country's long-term energy strategy. Director General Alexei Likhachev said preparations are under way for first concrete at three projects in 2027, including planned developments in Primorye, Beloyarsk and Smolensk. Russia's energy strategy envisages the construction of 38 new nuclear power units with a combined capacity of 29.3 GW, aiming for nuclear energy to account for 25% of electricity generation by 2045.
