Lead by example
According to Forbes, employees are strongly influenced by the attitude of their supervisor. If you are melancholic, negative, or indifferent to the future of your projects and team, it is unrealistic to expect much enthusiasm from your subordinates.
Offer an attractive vision
One of the primary responsibilities of a team leader is to provide a vision, a clear picture of the future that the team is working towards and employees can mentally hold on to when facing challenges. This vision must be realistic, and you should remind your team of it regularly so that it remains vivid and motivating.
Allow subordinates to find aspects of their work they genuinely enjoy
What interests one person may leave another indifferent. So it is essential to give your employees some autonomy and allow them to identify aspects of their work that they enjoy. People are usually most engaged in activities they excel at. Focus on employees’ strengths and support them individually.
Communicate regularly and frequently
Where there is no effective communication, there can be no genuine enthusiasm. To create an environment that motivates and inspires your employees, you must understand their aspirations, desires and challenges. Stay in frequent contact with members of your team and maintain transparent communication.
Ensure employees find deeper meaning in their work
Ideally, your employees should see a deeper purpose in their work. While this is not always possible in every industry, some things can be improved in any job in such a way that employees don't feel their work is meaningless, unappreciated and benefitting nobody. Consider how you can help individuals take pride in what they do.
