Start playing golf
Golf is a great sport for career networking. You can talk to your superiors away from the workplace, meet new important people in your branch and learn things you would otherwise not learn. Summer is the best time to start.
Learn new skills
Universities as well as other educational institutions offer special summer courses focused on various skills. Try to look at them and ask at your company whether such courses can be paid for you. Even if you do not receive any money, choose a course where you will meet interesting people.
Do not leave early on Friday afternoons
Most people do not work on summer Friday afternoons. They try to go home as soon as possible and offices remain quiet. Use these quiet moments to learn something new. You can, for example, read news from your branch on the Internet.
Organize a charity event
This might be, for example, a run for a good cause. Involve your colleagues and get to know each other better on the personal level. Ideally, ask your company to become your sponsor. Just look around yourself to see what charitable organizations are active in your area.
Become a volunteer
Find a non-profit organization where you can offer your help. Make your choice so that you can learn some new skills to be used at your work, too. You will at least meet strong leaders who can inspire you.
